I See Men As Trees

And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. (Mark 8:23-25 KJV)

Friends brought a blind man to Jesus that he may have his sight restored. Jesus spat on the blind man’s eyes, touched him, and asked him if he saw anything. The blind man looked up and said, “I see men as trees, walking”.

For our 19th day of the series, I want to focus on the significance of “clarity”.

Jesus touched the blind man once, but his vision was not clear. He saw things the way they really weren’t. His perception of those around him was clouded. Therefore, he could not make clear judgments or gain a good understanding because he did not have clarity.

Sometimes we get one touch from God and run with it. Before He is finished ministering to our hearts about a certain issue, we leave His presence, seeing men as trees. Then we walk through life without spiritual clarity, circling the same mountain, and bumping our heads along the way.

Without clarity we will call bad relationships good. Without clarity, a set up from Satan will look like a blessing from God.

Jesus did not leave the man’s sight in a cloudy state. Seeing men as trees walking was just the beginning of his miracle. In this instance, he needed a second touch from the Lord.

Not because this was too hard for Jesus, but our deliverance is customized based on our level of faith and spiritual maturity. After a second touch, he saw every man clearly.

I often ask God for another touch and to make His vision for my life plain. Like the healing of the blind man, it is a miracle to have spiritual clarity, but Jesus is more than able.

I once was blind, but now I see.
